In a day, we'll all be celebrating the start of another year. Isang araw nalang, 2008 na.And often times, we all show the world our new year's spirit by making our resolutions.Oh yes, those damn resolutions.I never believe that such promises come true. And I'm not talking about those simple things that can be done even without including them in your new year's list.I'm talking about long term changes in habits, perhaps done since childhood, or a vice that needs to get rid of.These ''resolutions'' are often said during media noche or champaign toast in front of every member of the family or even with friends.First you'd call everyone's attention, thank them because without them you'll be nothing. Then carry on with your speech which usually start with ''And because of all of you, this 2008, I promise to/never to.. (enter promise here).''And then the crowd would cheer. As the countdown starts, you'd be laughing with these people and later on, pack up as the holidays come to an end.Weeks and months would soon pass by..These people would also be the same ones who'll witness how you unsuccessfully do it.And you'd make them all feel like failures for not being able to help you achieve that goal. That one goal you made at the start of the year..Have you thought of what these people, your loved ones, have been saying?Perhaps they too are not believing in new year's resolutions anymore..I wonder who's guilty of doing these. And repeating them the next year..and the next year..and the next..
Tsk. Really. Promises are meant to be broken. So go 'head.Make those damn resolutions. And prove me wrong at the end of the year by telling me you never broke them.Have a blessed new year y'all..
